Rutgers 85 - Georgetown 72

Rutgers Targum - February 15, 1969

It's no exaggeration to say that the Army win was one of the best wins in the history of Rutgers basketball.  As a result, it's very impressive that the 1969 team with literally no time to celebrate, recover and prepare for Georgetown, not only took care of business but did so in dominating fashion.  It's not clear why these games were played on successive nights, to be followed only three days later by an away game at Bucknell.  The 1967 team actually played three games in four days, but they were at least all at home.  It couldn't have been because of television since so few games were televised in those days, it may have to do with the four weeks or more hiatus for exams and the shorter season.  In any event, the kind of performance was something special.

Doubtless Coach Foster's attention was elsewhere when this picture was taken!
