The blazer has gone the way of all things, but the Rutgers Basketball pocket endures. Coca Cola stains on the left hand side are courtesy of a waitress at the Town House restaurant.
1966-67 regular season media guide, note the size of the student body (all male) compared to today, the price of a reserved seat ($2) and the schedule with almost a month break for exams.
Rutgers Daily Targum - December 1, 1967
Good memories. Thanks for putting this stuff out there John. I remember expecting to lose a lot of playing time to these sophomores that everybody was bragging about.
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it Rick. Not sure if anyone else remembers the pre-season scrimmage at Yale, but I remember it as an unmitigated disaster. A few days later Dick Steward (himself a sophomore) said to me it just showed how important experienced guys like Phil Robinson, Dennis Earl, Roger Shutack and Bud Collins were - players who knew where they were supposed to be and supposed to do. It taught me to never underestimate the importance of experience in college athletics.
