Rutgers Basketball gave all of us opportunities which may never have realized- playing in the NBA, medical careers, success in business, teaching and coaching in high school and college. But, there other less noticeable situations. One of them, for me, was taking my first plane ride. It was to this game and I was excited. However, it was aboard an Allegheny Airlines plane. A prop whose wings were attached at the top of fuselage. If you remember, at that time, Allegheny did not have the best safety reputation. Add on that it was my first flight, so it made for one of those kiss the ground moments on landing. Luckily, the team was unfazed and won the game, the first in a very successful season.
